Informal Letter

Dear Sally, Thanks for writing such a long and funny letter. I always enjoy reading what you’ve been doing. I’ve recently been on holidays with my sister Anna. We were saving as much money as we could only for one reason: LONDON, the city of our dreams. We are absolutely fascinated by the city, it's really awesome! As you know, London is the capital city of England and it's on the River Thames. Anna and I stayed at a luxurious hotel called â€Å"London Marriot Hotel† very close to the city center. We tried to do as much things as we could, only in 5 days. We spend a fortune on the flight on the famous London Eye. In only 30 minutes we saw more that fifty London's most famous landmarks! After the flight, Anna and I went to watch Changing the Guard, which takes place inside the railings of Buckingham Palace. The Queen's Guard is always accompanied by a band and the ceremony lasts 45 minutes. It was really amazing! Also, we took some photos of the Houses of Parliament, of Big Ben and of Westminster Abbey. And we had a nice walk along the riverside. I was mesmerized by London by night. However, not all in Britain is so amazing. We've already noticed that Londoners are very busy people; they're in a hurry all the time. As for the food, I don't like English food. It's tasteless and very greasy. Fish & chips seem to be their national dish. But I must admit that I like English beer. Of course, we didn’t have enough time to visit all the places we wanted to. So I think that I must come back here next summer. Maybe you would go with me -what do you think? Write to me about it in your next letter. Best wishes, Vero Informal Letter Dear Sally, Thanks for writing such a long and funny letter. I always enjoy reading what you’ve been doing. I’ve recently been on holidays with my sister Anna. Country analysis research project Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

Country analysis project - Research Paper Example This report makes a thorough analysis of the various aspects of Japan including the social, demographic, political as well as economic aspects in order to determine whether it is the right investment destinations of the foreign investors. Since the country has already passed through the different stages of development the agricultural sector is declining and the manufacturing sector has matured. The financial markets in the country are also quite stable. A foreign investor has to operate in the specific business model that Japan already has in order to survive in the big picture. Necessary graphs and charts have been provided to elucidate the position in this essay. Population, Population growth and Density Japan is the eleventh largest country in the world in terms of population. At present the population of the country is more than 127,253,075. Japan’s population growth rate is declining by 0.1% because the country has taken appropriate measures to control the burgeoning pop ulation of the country. While the birth rate of the country is 8.23 per 100o people of the nation the rate of death is 9.27 as in 2013 (CIA 1). Thus in future the population of the country would decline. Age distribution and Gender The population pyramid as shown in the chart below. It provides an analysis of the age group distribution in the country and helps a business to understand that who would be the target market for the company and how the market segmentation can be done based on age and gender. Thus the social and political stability of the country is reflected through the pyramid. The median population of the country is 45.8 for the population in general. While the median population of males is 44.4 years, the median population of females is 47.2 years. 38.3 of the population are in the age group of 25-54 years which means that there is a huge number of working age group population in the country (Johnstone, Serret-Itsicsohn and Brown 354). The percentage of the 0-14 yearà ¢â‚¬â„¢s age group is 13.4% while that of the 15-24 years age group is 9.7 % (CIA 1). These data show that any business that has the intension in opening their operations in Japan would not have much manpower problems in the short run as well as the long run. Figure 1: Population Pyramid of Japan (CIA 1) The sex ratio of the country is 0.95 per female in the country which means that the country has a huge number of female populations. Urbanization 91.3% of the total population of Japan live in the urban areas while the rate of urbanisation as computed by the 2010-15 census is 0.57%. This rate is low because most of the people live in the urban areas. The most important towns and cities of Japan are Tokyo with a population of 36.5 million, Osaka-Kobe with a population of 11.35 million, Nagoya and Fukuoka-Kitakyushu with populations of 3.2 and 2.8 million respectively. This means that most of these people are adding to the production of the country, which has kept the unemployment rat e in the economy low to 8%. The female unemployment is lower in the country compared to the male unemployment rate (CIA 1). Ethnic groups People of different ethnicities comprise the population of Japan. About 98% of the people of the country are of Japanese origin, on the other hand the Koreans and Chinese make up for 0.5% and 0.4% of the population. Only 0.6% of the population

Leglization of Marijuana Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Leglization of Marijuana - Research Paper Example Firstly, a comparison between alcohol and cigarettes shows that the use of marijuana has mild health risks and losses to the society. This is a great paradox since alcohol and cigarettes have not been banned despite their greater damage potential. This scenario further worsens owing to the ease of availability of the two products. On the contrary, to get marijuana, one must do it in secret so as not to arouse suspicion. Such hypocrisy and unfairness to marijuana users ought to end (Legalizationofmarijuana.com, 2010). Secondly, prohibiting marijuana has served to increase the black market that goes as far as to even corrupt the judicial system. There is massive bribing of judges that occurs to secure the release of rich marijuana dealers. Such arrests have led to America ending up as the largest jailor nation overcrowding jails, resulting in the release of more dangerous criminals such as murderers. On average, drug dealers are sentenced at a rate that is five times higher than the rate of those arrested for manslaughter. Such unfair severity in terms of punishment has led to the resignation of judges who do not wish to belong to a corrupt system (Legalizationofmarijuana.com, 2010). In addition, many farmers in America have turned to growing marijuana in their cornfields. This is because marijuana farming has become a lucrative venture with a bushel selling for up to 70,000 dollars. This is in stark contrast to that of corn, which rakes in a few dollars per bushel. Clearly, marijuana is fast substituting corn as the major cash crop in America. Failing to legalize marijuana is turning innocent farmers on whom the country‘s survival depends into criminals. Legislation of marijuana will work better than simply decriminalizing or medicalizing it. Decriminalisation serves to legalize the possession of little amounts of the drug although it does not put an end to the enormous black market or allow for simpler taxation.

3D Printing in Architecture depends on Tessellation Essay

3D Printing in Architecture depends on Tessellation - Essay Example In older days, architecture was known as a field which was dependent upon the manually made three-dimensional models and designs.Today, thanks to technology and development, these models are made with the help of software and executed using modern techniques Many of these techniques help the architects to present their ideas through designing software and programs such as the CAD techniques. As the trends have changed, the architecture processes are now more dependent upon techniques such as tessellations. However, many architects today believe that 3D printing in architecture mainly depends on tessellations. Tessellation refers to the placing of shapes repeatedly to form a pattern. These shapes are repeated again and again to cover the spaces and overlap one another. Tiling is another word for tessellation which refers to the filling of spaces with tiles such as on floors, ceilings or walls. The tessellation technique is widely used in the world around us whether it is in mathematic s, natural world, arts or architecture. It is known as a technique which enables the architects to create structures and interiors1. The process is closely related to architecture as there are many aspects which need the process and application of tessellation such as the facade of the building, the material used or the interior walls. Figure 1 shows a form of 3D tessellation. Figure 1. TurboSquid, 2013 This essay addresses the need of tessellation in CAD and 3D printing used in architecture. 3D designs in tessellations are greatly used in architecture nowadays, and the modern methods rely on tessellation techniques and materials. The essay discloses how this is applied and what the critiquing views of this process are. Tessellation is used mainly because of its application in many processes. The methods are easy and useful for many procedures in architecture. However, this essay will assess the methods, procedures and problems of using tessellation in architecture identifying why i t is the most important factor. Literature The architecture today has a different meaning than it had several years ago. Today, the 3D printing and designing is a huge part of the architectural industry. The designs are made and executed through computer programs and 3D models. From the initial stages of building the structure till the last stage, 3D designing is used. On the initial stage, when the architect is told about the space and size of the structure, s/he uses computer programming to build diagrams and illustrations of how the building will be structured. There are special programs that automatically measure and illustrate all calculations and measurements. These programs build 3D blocks and diagrams which present the structure and how it will be organized2. 3D block diagrams are the most commonly used programs for the initial stages. Many architects use these 3D tools to build graphics for their structures. These computer models show all graphics and details of the structu re including rooms, walk ways, lifts, etc. and all from different angles and perspectives. CAD applications are used for the clients so that they can easily understand the 3D design. The use of these programs does not only make the work of the architect easier, but it also saves a lot of time of the planning, executing and applying. Figure 2 shows a 3D model made using computer programming. The figure shows how the structure includes various aspects that will make it easier for the constructor as well as the client. These models give a clearer picture of the building than ledgers and spreadsheets. This is because the data and information is delivered using graphics, pictures and 3D designing rather than coded information in rows and columns3. Figure 2. 3D Printing in AEC, 2011 The nature of the architectural design requires many creative and technical aspects which can be fulfilled by the CAD software which is the computer-aided design program. CAD programs allow the

Eating Habits of Students Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words

Eating Habits of Students - Essay Example The importance of a healthy lifestyle is inevitable. A good and healthy lifestyle starts with the diet one takes (Bailey, 2007 ). A blend of calorie intake together with fruit and vegetable consumption, as part of the diet, is advisable in ensuring a balanced diet. It helps prevent lifestyle-related disorders and diseases (MacClanccy, Henry, & Macbeth, 2009). Strict dietary guidelines help maintain a healthy diet and avoid the big gap in dietary divide experienced today by many people. The prevalent short lifespan emanates from the wrong choice of diet that end up affecting our health (Shepherd & Raats 2006). The young generation seems to pay little attention to the crucial topic of diet and health. Their choice of diet remains a secondary consideration in their responsibility for their health (Gullotta, Adams & Ramos 2005). Dietary disorders among young people are on the rise at an alarming rate. Instances of obesity in young people are increasing more than ever experienced. Accordi ng to Richards, 2007, guiding the young generation on issues of diet and health become essential. Topics such as the choice of food, awareness of a well balanced diet and the need to create attention to nutrition among by young people need further elaboration. Teaching the youth about diet and health, therefore, is indispensable an issue most governments must consider engaging (Berg 2002). Statistics in the United Kingdom show that several schools going students have poor knowledge of diet and health (McGinnis & Gootman 2006). Several students express low attention to nutrition. The choice of a better diet by students is poorly in several students (Glass 2009). In what areas many students pay less attention to, as far as diet and health are concerned, this report sorts to find out. The report discusses the important dietary areas overlooked by students and their extent of caution to their health. 2. Method In order to find out the eating habits of students, a survey was conducted wi th the help of an oral questionnaire. Total 30 randomly selected students in the UK took the interview in different learning institutions for the purpose of representing the student population. The group of respondents composed of students from different learning institutions at different stages of studies. The respondents consisted of fifteen boys and fifteen girls. The questionnaire (attached in the appendix) consists of different kinds of questions which chiefly build upon each other. The question types used is, for example, â€Å"yes/no†, multiple choice and ranking questions. In addition, some questions require the respondents stating their own opinion or telling more about their own experiences. While the questionnaire is not plainly segmented, it focuses on one major topic of health and diet. The questionnaire consists of seventeen (17) questions. The first question asks about the respondent’s gender. The second question asks about the frequency of meals taken b y students per day. The number of meals ranges from one (1) to four (4) per day. The third asks the opinion of the responder, whether he or she gets a balanced diet. It offers five options of response to the question. The fourth question inquires the respondent’s knowledge of a balanced diet. The fifth question asks the respondent about his or her preferred meal.

Assignment 3 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Assignment 3 - Essay Example The event I am proposing to be given a chance to organize will be intended at raising funds to be used in covering the costs of the medical examination of 250 high school athletes from Megan High School. In order to organize a successful event, our agency will need to get word out about an upcoming event. The best way to publicize an event is to advertise. I will, therefore, start by preparing a press release we intend to send to newsrooms hopefully to be published or to be used in writing an article. Then I will prepare a video commercial to be used in advertising on television or on the internet. Finally, I will prepare a full page print ad that will be put out in newspapers and magazines (Tucker, 1997, p. 56). There is a growing need for funds to be raised in support for athletes in high school due to the fact that the cost of running the athletic department at the school has increased. This is even more necessary considering the number of programs in the athletics department. Our agency proposes the following press release to be used for advertising the event. I have also included a one-page print ad that we propose to use in publicizing the event. Section  II. ... During the event, invited guests will be shown a video of the last Sports Day held at the school in order to exhibit the various talents that students at Megan High School have. Some of the sporting events that will be showcased include tennis, basketball, volleyball, hockey, and badminton. The main event of the evening will be a car raffle which will be sold at one hundred dollars each. These raffle tickets will be sold to willing business associations, sports clubs and persons taking part in the fundraising event. Our target for this fundraising will be to raise a minimum of 100 dollars per student. In the event that we raise more than the required amount, we intend to put the rest of the funds into good use such as the maintenance of sports programs at the school, improvement of sports facilities, and sponsoring of medical examinations for more students next academic year. Robert Kelly, Chairman of Tennis Federation said, â€Å"The fundraising event at Megan High School is very i mportant as it highlights the importance of sports in the lives of students. It also gives an opportunity for those students who wish to pursue sports in college but are short of funds an opportunity to start the application process.† The newly appointed Chairlady of the club Maggi’s also said "We are excited that Save the Children has agreed to conduct this sports fundraiser. Megan High School Booster Club has been a strong supporter of nurturing sports talent in the young ones. This event will go a long way in impacting the lives of our young athletes." To register for this event, contact Mercy at (44) 875-9272. Section III. Print Ad We, as Megan High School Booster Club, a local civic organization, plan a fundraising event aimed at

Portfolio in Islamic Commercial Law - Essay Example Meanwhile the second essay discusses how Islamic economic and finance can be the best alternative solution of ‘Responsible Capitalism’ from Islamic perspective. Relation between Islamic commercial law and political will of the state This section describes the relation between Islamic commercial law and political will of the state. It presents the development Islamic commercial law is inter-related with political will of the state. The notion is discussed by presenting a case study in the development of Islamic commercial law from early development until recent. In this case Southeast Asia will be used as a case study. The Sharia is made up of the ‘legal’ statements of the Koran and the Customs of the clairvoyant. Fiqh is an academic study, and juristic understanding of those sources. It is often presented as an ‘Islamic jurisprudence’. The word Sharia also entails these understanding. 1 The ideas are normally presented as different, although the limits connecting them are not completely presented. Muslim educators accurately criticise the expression ‘Islamic law’ for its malfunction to differentiate between phenomena within the society.2 The Sharia should be clearly distinguished from the territory law of Muslim- preponderance jurisdictions. Some justification processes do have stipulation in their statute, that the Sharia is the most important foundation of law. 3 Some have produced statutes founded on the Sharia, though; this is diverse from the Sharia essence the law. In the first situation, it is not more than the foundation, and in the subsequent, one of its indispensable attributes, its eventual influence, has been distorted, from Allah to the status. One exemption is Saudi Arabia, where Sharia is the law, other than this there are enhancement by frequent ‘regulations’ produced by the authority.1Sharia is an Arabic expression used to label Islamic by law. The understandings of its necessities have been differentiated in the past depending on sectarian and school divided sections and, in contemporary times, also depending on the different notions of how the Sharia law is applicable to changed state of affairs of modern societies.5 The explanations of the necessities of Sharia law are controlled in the fiqh.
